Real reviews from the Toyota and Lexus owners we build for.
“The RSG fam pretty much built me a new truck! It drives smooth with the new lift, tires and regearing. Huge thanks to Ray and the team for setting me up for success for future off roading!”
“In the end delivered my dream Tacoma. Supercharger, new suspension, re-gearing, fitting 35s……the whole shootin' match!... Had a chance to take it on the trails recently and WOW! It completely lived up to my expectations.”
“The vehicles rear differential lock started to randomly engage. Drew and the RSG Off-Road team went out of their way to help resolve this... the issue was addressed in a very timely manner resulting in no disruptions to our plans.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Usually, yes. A 4Runner that came with 4.10 gears on 31s will feel sluggish on 35s. Going to 4.88 or 5.29 gears restores acceleration, towing capability, and proper transmission shift points. The bigger the tire, the stronger the case for re-gearing.
On a 5th Gen 4Runner: 33s = stock 3.91 to 4.10 OK; 34s = 4.30 to 4.56 ideal; 35s = 4.88 plus. On a Tacoma it depends on engine and transmission. Bring us your year, engine, tire size, and use case and we'll pull the chart.
Air lockers (ARB) run off an onboard compressor. Pros: bombproof, fastest engagement, switchable. Cons: more install complexity, need a compressor. Electric lockers (Eaton E-Locker) run off vehicle 12V. Pros: simpler install, no compressor. Cons: slightly slower engagement.
A limited-slip helps in low-traction street and light off-road. For real wheeling (rocks, off-camber, slow technical), a true locker matters. If you ever lift a tire, you want a locker.
Typically 1-2 shop days per axle. Re-gear plus locker on the same axle is one ticket of work. We confirm timing at drop-off.
Yes. CV axles, U-joints, transfer cases, driveshafts. If it spins between the engine and the wheels, we work on it.
